NECG Classic Adjustable Rear Sight R-201. Same as our Masterpiece Adjustable Rear Sight except that windage is adjusted by drifting the sight from side to side, then locking it with the built-in clamp. Precision machined all-steel, polished and blued, attaches with a single 6-48 fastening screw. 16mm long dovetail includes the R-201S and will accept the R-208M Mini Express, "Running Boar" and other 16mm sights. R-201S Blade features shallow V with U-notch. Length: 2.170"---Width: .550"---Height in lowest position from the top of the barrel: .550" ---Upward adjustment: .060".
Due to increased product costs, we will only be offering this sight with a 9,0mm / .354" radius to fit diameters .708" and larger. While supplies last, we are still offering a larger 10,5mm /.413" radius to fit diameters .826" and larger. The bottom radius will need to be machined for the larger barrel contours.
Fitting an NECG R-201 Classic Rear Sight base to a RUGER rifle barrel.
If you remove the RUGER factory rear sight base and find 8-36 screw holes, you will need to alter the attaching base screw hole and a 8-36 Flat Head screw to fit the new sight base.
Follow these steps:
1) Disassemble the NECG R-201 Classic Rear Sight by loosening the clamp screw and tapping out the sight insert.
2) Confirm base radius / barrel fit and modify the bottom base radius as needed for best results.
3) Set the base up, level, in a milling machine or drill press vise.
4) Using a 6-48 WEAVER counterbore, deepen the 6-48 hole by .050"
5) Switch to a #20 drill bit and drill out the 6-48 clearance hole for the new #8 screw.
6) Chuck up a 8-36 Flat Head screw in a lathe or drill press. Turn the screw head to .213" diameter.
7) Check the screw head fit in the altered base hole.
8) Shorten the screw thread until the base is securely tightened onto the barrel.
9) Check the level of the rear sight base against the scope base and front sight ramp.
10) Proceed with final sight finishing and/or sight assembly.
