Choosing a scope. Which scope is right for you? When making your decision, we feel that these are the main points to consider: what you will be hunting; when you will be hunting; and at what distances do you expect to be shooting. If you plan to be hunting dangerous game at close range you will want to consider a 1.25-4x20 with it's wide field of view. If you are hunting in long fields or in the western states the 3-12x42 or the 4-16x50 are better choices as they provide the magnification needed for longer shots. If you plan to be hunting in the very early dawn or until last light, then the superior light transmission of the 2.5-10x56 or the 3-12x50 would be your best choice. Our Precision Hunter series of scopes is designed for the hunter who wishes to adjust his scope in the field before taking that long shot out to five hundred yards. Should you be planning a trip to Africa for leopard or lion you may want to consider our illuminated series, as they will give you an aiming point in near total darkness. And lastly, if you are seeking an all-around scope, we recommend our 1.5-6x42, as it is the most versatile scope in our line. Choosing a reticle. The best way to approach choosing a reticle is again to ask yourself what you will be using the scope for. Of our standard stock reticles, the #7 and #8 have the thickest center crosshairs and work well in low light hunting situations. The #9 has the thinnest center crosshairs and works well on targets at the range as well as in the field. The ultimate low-light reticle is the #1 with its three heavy posts. |
